Method
- 1
Wash a large clean glass jar with a lid in hot soapy water and dry well.
- 2
Cut each Camembert in half through the middle to make four thinner rounds, or leave whole if your jar is wide enough.
- 3
Layer the cheese in the jar with the onion, garlic, chilli, bay, peppercorns, paprika and marjoram, so each layer is well spiced.
- 4
Pour in enough oil to cover everything completely. Tap the jar to release air bubbles and press the cheese down.
- 5
Seal and keep in the fridge for at least 2 days. Keep it chilled and eat within 5 days, since garlic stored in oil should not be left at room temperature.
- 6
Lift out the cheese with the onion and chilli. Serve at room temperature with rye bread or crusty bread and pickles.
