Perfect Jacket Potato

The Ultimate Jacket Potato – Crispy, Fluffy, Forkin’ Perfect!
This is not just any jacket potato—this is your go-to guide for the crispiest skin, fluffiest insides, and tastiest toppings. Whether you’re a kitchen newbie or a potato connoisseur, we’ve got you covered.
Prep & Cook Time:
- Prep time: 5 mins
- Cook time: 1 hr 15 mins
- Total time: 1 hr 20 mins
Ingredients:
- 4 large baking potatoes (Russet or Maris Piper)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 50g unsalted butter (for serving)
- 100g mature cheddar cheese, grated (optional topping)
- Baked beans, tuna mayo, or other favourite fillings (optional)
Items Needed:
- Oven preheated to 200°C (180°C fan) / Gas mark 6
- Baking tray
- Fork for poking (therapy optional)
- Knife for cutting open
Recipe:
- Poke ’em Good: Preheat your oven to 200°C (180°C fan). Wash the potatoes thoroughly. Prick each potato a few times with a fork to prevent potato explosions—unless you’re into kitchen drama!
- Oil and Season: Rub each potato with olive oil, sprinkle with sea salt, and place directly on your oven rack for maximum crispiness.
- Bake Away: Bake the potatoes for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. They’re ready when the skin is crispy and the insides are fluffy and tender.
- Time to Load Up: Slice open each potato, fluff up the insides with a fork, and add a generous dollop of butter. Top with grated cheese, baked beans, tuna mayo, or whatever tasty filling you fancy.
- Dig In: Serve immediately while hot. Get ready for compliments and maybe a little envy from anyone nearby who forgot to make their own.
Potatoes never tasted this good. Fork up and enjoy!
